Console HDMI Port Repair in North East England
Specialist HDMI port replacement and board-level display fault repair for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Specialist Console HDMI Repairs Across the North East
Console Surgeon provides specialist HDMI port repair for games consoles across North East England from our South Shields workshop.
We repair damaged HDMI ports and related display faults on consoles including PS5, PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro, PS4, PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X.
A console that shows no picture does not automatically need a new HDMI port. We inspect the connector and surrounding circuitry before carrying out unnecessary replacement work.
Where the HDMI port itself is damaged, we remove the faulty connector using professional board-level equipment, prepare the motherboard correctly and install an appropriate replacement.
If the port is intact, we can investigate damaged filters, ICs, traces, pads and other display-related motherboard faults.
Customers can visit our South Shields workshop, use our collection and drop-off service where available, or send their console to us using our postal repair service.

Signs Your Console May Need HDMI Repair
Common symptoms include:
No Signal
The console powers on normally but the television or monitor reports no signal.
Bent or Damaged HDMI Pins
Pins inside the connector may be bent, pushed back or visibly damaged.
Loose HDMI Connection
The HDMI cable moves excessively or only works when positioned at a certain angle.
Intermittent Display
The picture cuts in and out, flickers or disappears when the cable moves.
Physically Damaged Port
The HDMI connector may have been pushed into the console or damaged when the cable was pulled or knocked.
No Display With an Intact Port
If the connector looks normal but the console still shows no picture, the fault may be elsewhere in the HDMI circuit.
HDMI Port Replacement Is Not Always the Whole Repair
A damaged HDMI port is only one possible cause of a no-display fault.
The HDMI signal path includes additional components and PCB traces between the physical connector and the console's main processor.
This means a console can still have no picture even when the HDMI socket appears undamaged.
Depending on the model and fault, diagnosis may involve checking:
- HDMI filters
- Display-related ICs
- SMD components
- PCB traces
- Solder pads
- Short circuits
- Previous repair damage
- Connector alignment and continuity
We diagnose the underlying fault before deciding which components actually need replacing.
Board-Level HDMI Repair
HDMI port replacement requires precision board-level soldering.
A damaged connector must be removed without causing additional damage to the motherboard. The solder pads and surrounding traces then need to be inspected before a replacement port is installed.
Where pads or traces are already damaged, we can carry out reconstruction work where practical.
Console Surgeon performs microsoldering, SMD component replacement, trace repair and damaged solder-pad repair in-house.
This is particularly useful for consoles that have already undergone an unsuccessful HDMI repair elsewhere.
